"The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is headed by Mr.Shanmugavel. He, along with well qualified and rich experienced faculty members cater to the need for the students of Computer Science and Engineering. Faculty members are continuously upgrading their knowledge by way of presenting papers in conferences, attending workshops, seminars, faculty development programs etc., to epitomize the cutting edge technology prevailing in the field of Information technology. For mutual mobilization of technological ideas, interaction with industry is carried out successfully; as a consequence, visit to the industry and visit by the industrialist are frequency held. Students are allowed to do projects in industry to satisfy the industries' upcoming requirements."

The mission of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering is to prepare undergraduate and graduate students for productive careers in industry, academia, and government by providing an outstanding environment for teaching, learning, and research in the theory and applications of computing. The Department places high priority on establishing and maintaining innovative research programs to enhance its education quality and make it an important regional, national and international resource center for discovering, integrating and applying new knowledge and technologies.

:: Computer Literacy Program
Department of Computer Science and Engineering is conducting “Computer Literacy Programme” from December 2008. This program is conducted at the end of every semester for the faculties from other departments to equip basic computer skills in various areas like Internet, E-Mail, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
In December 2008, about 16 staff members from various departments were learned the following software.

E-Mail
The Computer Literacy Programme for the forthcoming semester is planned to conduct in the month June 2009.
Mr.G.Balakrishnan, Asst. Prof. of CSE Department is the Co-ordinator of this programme. |
