The Management of K.L.N. College of Information Technology is keen on character building for the students, besides providing opportunity for skill development in their chosen field of engineering. For students in their formative age, character building is essential and that they are given certain norms to establish disciplined behaviour in the class rooms, in the campus and later in the society to keep the high traditions of the College and to become proud graduates of K.L.N. College of Information Technology.

:: DISCIPLINE
- It is expected of all students that they maintain highest order of discipline. Any kind of indiscipline will be severely dealt with.
- Students should obey all orders, and instructions issued by the Principal and by the members of staff from time to time.
- Students not complying with any of the rules/regulations are liable to be fined, suspended or dismissed from the institute, depending on the gravity of the non-compliance.

:: GENERAL BEHAVIOUR
- Being in a co-educational institute, students shall maintain good dignity and manners with opposite sex. Any indecent behaviour will be viewed seriously and the Principal will take severe action.
- Every student should handle the college property and furniture in such a way as to preserve them from damage and he/she shall not do any writing on walls, furniture and class room boards. Cost of any such damage shall be recovered individually or collectively from the students, besides taking disciplinary action.
- Students should not loiter around the campus during class hours and should not form groups in and around the campus.
- Students will not be permitted to go outside or move to nearby campus during the working hours of the college, and also during break hours. Students will not be permitted to take food outside the campus. They have to either bring their food from home or dine in college canteen only.
- Students should keep silence in dining hall and common room and should keep this hall in a clean and organized manner.
- Students should have the practice of depositing the waste packets and papers into the dustbins and should not carry with them and throw by the road side.
- Using crackers / colour powders within the college or hostel campus even during festivals is strictly forbidden.
- No society, association or club shall be formed without previous written permission of the Principal.
- Students should not take law into their hands with servants of the college and hostel and all complaints about them shall be made to the Principal for necessary redressal.
- Students should not bring costly materials to college or wear costly gold jewels. It is the students' responsibility to keep their valuables in their own custody. Management / College is not responsible for any loss / theft.
- Student's functions, parties, meetings, etc., shall be arranged only within the campus with prior written approval of the Principal.

:: IDENTITY CARDS
Every student should keep his Identity card in his personal possession and should produce on demand by any member of staff of the college and also at any service desk when he/she requires service. In case the ID card is lost, a duplicate may be obtained after paying necessary fees.

:: LIBRARY RULES
- Absolute silence should be observed in the library and reading room. Students when receiving books are expected to examine them for any damages found in them. If so, they must return to the librarian before they leave the library. Failure to do so will render them liable to pay damages that may be noticed afterwards.
- Students should not write or mark upon or damage in any way the books, periodicals, manuscripts or maps belonging to the library.
- The librarian is empowered to order out any student who misbehaves in the library.

:: GENERAL RULES
The Principal shall have powers to fine, suspend or even expel a student from the college in the interest of the institution under disciplinary action. Once the Principal takes action it will never be revoked under any circumstances. No influence or pressure will have any effect on the college or hostel authorities in this regard.

:: TESTS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Tests will be conducted and assignments will be given periodically in all subjects. The students should write all tests and submit the assignment regularly. Performance in the assignments and periodical tests will be taken into consideration while assessing the progress of the students. Students whose progress is not satisfactory may not be permitted to appear for the university examinations.

:: LABORATORIES
- Whenever the students work in the college laboratories, they must be extremely careful in handling the equipment, as carelessness may result in serious injury to the individual and damage to the equipment.
- Damage to equipment or breakage not only causes heavy financial loss to the college but also deprives the students of the opportunity to make further use of them in the laboratory. Moreover any damage to an essential component of an equipment may probably render it totally unusable for long periods for want of proper spares.
- Any damage to instruments must be immediately reported to the staff member in charge of the laboratory.
- Further the students should scrupulously follow all special instructions, written and oral, from the staff members-in-charge of laboratories.

:: RAGGING AND EVE TEASING
Ragging is banned in the institution and any one indulging in ragging is likely to be punished appropriately which may include expulsion from the institution, suspension from the institution or classes for a limited period or fine with a public apology and even with the entry to the above effect in their T.C. to be issued by the institution in which student is studying.
The punishment may also take the shape of:
- Withholding scholarships or other benefits.
- Debarring from representation in events.
- Debarring from representation in events.
- Suspension or expulsion from hostel, mess, and the like.
As per the Act whoever participates in ragging directly (or) indirectly within or outside any educational institution shall be punished with imprisonment for two years and also liable to a fine upto Rs.10,000/- The students found indulged in ragging will be immediately dismissed from institution at the discretion of Principal.

:: DRESS REGULATION
- Men students must always be dressed neatly and decently during the class hours of the Institution. They can wear full pants and shirts. The hippie look in hairstyle and in dress must be avoided. During the Laboratory and workshop classes they should wear appropriate uniform dress/shoes. Sports shirt / banians / T-shirts during working hours is strictly prohibited.
- The girl students must always be dressed neatly and decently during working hours of the institution. Girls can either wear saree or churidhar (three piece). They should maintain conventional hairstyles only. Students found violating the dress norms will be sent out of the class to come back in acceptable dress.

:: TRANSPORT
Pass holders of the college buses should occupy their seats or stand inside the bus but should not stand on the footboards. Buses will stop only at scheduled places. Any misbehaviour in the bus will be treated severely. Any student should board/travel only in the bus allotted to him/her.

:: ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE
- Students are required to be regular in their attendance. No student shall abstain from the classes without obtaining prior sanction of leave from \the concerned tutors. For leave, more than 3 days prior permission from Principal is required. A student joining after medical leave, should produce medical certificate from Registered Medical Practitioner.
- Attendance is compulsory on both the reopening and closing days of every term and no application for leave excepting the cases of sickness will be entertained. Bridging any holiday with the adjoining working day is strictly prohibited.

:: OTHERS MATTERS
Any matter involving breach of discipline will be dealt with as per rules.

:: STUDENTS COUNSILLING
- About 20 students are assigned to the care of a senior member of staff who will be called their tutor. The tutor plays the role of the local guardian to the students and would try to be of assistance to his/her wards in their difficulties.
- The tutor maintains the students Record sheet containing all information regarding the students attendance, marks in the university examination and achievements in the curricular and extracurricular activities. Disciplinary action if any taken against any, student is also recorded.
- One hour is allotted for student counselling per week. The students are expected to meet their problems with them. Students should also see that their information regarding their progress and achievement is incorporated in the record sheet.
