The founder president of the college, Amarar K.L.N. Krishnan, was a great visionary legend in small-scale industries and had rendered yeomen service to the cause of education including women's education. He founded Sourashtra Arts and Science College, Sourashtra Girls Higher Secondary School and K.L.N. Polytechnic College at Madurai, which has gained national accreditation. K.L.N. College of Engineering, a sister engineering institution was also founded by him, which is now a well-known college in Madurai and Tamil Nadu |

Thiru K.N.K. Ganesh, an eminent engineer and industrialist, succeeded his illustrious father as the present President. Thiru S.V.S. Shivnath, an engineer with vast industrial experience, is the Secretary and is assisted by other members of the Executive Committee and the Governing Council. |

K.L.N. College of Information Technology is the first engineering college on Information Technology in Madurai, started in 2001 by the munificence of philanthropists and well-wishers in Sourashtra Community which is a linguistic minority in Tamil Nadu. The college, a co-educational one, is sponsored by K.L.N. Sourashtra College of Engineering Council consisting of eminent industrialists and academicians lead by the pioneer Amarar Thiru K.L.N. Krishnan. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E.), New Delhi and is affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai from the academic year 2001-02.
The college is situated in the south-eastern outskirts of Madurai, 12 km from city on the Madurai-Pottapalayam-Kusavapatti road and is juxtaposed to the K.L.N. College of Engineering. The sprawling campus has three massive three-storeyed main buildings consisting of large, airy classrooms provided with comfortable steel desks, spacious conference/seminar halls, staff rooms and students' rest rooms. The Principal's Room and Administrative Office are located in the Main Block (Block-III). The infrastructure also consists of a single-storeyed building which houses the Workshop, Generator Room and a vast Canteen.
A team of dedicated faculty members having vast academic, research, consultancy and industrial experience are the backbone of this institution. The faculty are adequately paid and rewarded for excellence. Apart from classroom lectures, the teachers and their supporting staff in different laboratories, drawing halls and computer labs make the learning atmosphere conducive, inspiring and enjoyable.
Two bore wells near the main buildings supply adequate water to the two overhead tanks with a capacity of 12,000 litres each. To augment the Ground water reserve, provision is made for “Rainwater Harvest”. For potable use the water is purified by a reverse osmosis unit.
The campus provides good facilities for both indoor and outdoor games. Separate hostels are provided for girls and boys. The college provides transport facilities for all the students and staff. 20 buses are being operated. State transport buses also ply on this newly laid road. Staff and students are taking keen interest in planting trees to make the campus look green. |
